All other book signings are cowering in the corners because they can’t live up to this one. I have loved every book signing I have ever been to because each author is unique and offers an interesting perspective. Laini Taylor didn’t read from her book, didn’t talk about the premise, and didn’t have any gimmicks. She read from a prepared speech. Sounds boring, right? Well, it would be boring from any ordinary person, but she’s a writer – a good one. It was written like a book, spoken with inflection, and still felt genuine and present. She told her story and how those experiences lead her to writing. She was articulate and interesting. Having a full head of pink hair sure kept my attention, but it was the content that kept me engaged. Every book signing has shown me things that I want and don’t want to do. This was no different, but it was probably my favorite experience…so far.
