So, I’m not much of a list person. I make grocery lists that I vaguely follow, but that’s about it. I can be OCD about some things, but detailing my life by way of ‘checklist’ isn’t one of them. However, there is a time for lists. When you go to writing conferences, book clubs, or you’re just chatting with your neighbors and the same books are mentioned again and again – and you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading them – it’s time to make a list.
I was tired of feeling out of the loop. Some books are ones that I wasn’t interested in because I was too young or it wasn’t a genre I was seeking at the time. Others were popular high school required reading that magically passed me by. But in all honesty, most are from a serious lack of reading prior to my writing career. I simply was not reading enough books to stay up-to-date on must-reads and trending books.
Time to remedy. It’s a new year. What better way to kick off a year than with goals and – dare I say – a list. These are some of the books that are on my 100%, no excuses, must-read in 2015 list. I have a goal to read 52 books this year, so I devoted 1/2 of my required reading to catching up with the rest of the world.
Here it is, in all its simmering glory, my list of 26 must-read titles for 2015.
